Jon Pic’s Vision Quest
I want what everyone wants: To find a home or a job or even a hole in the ground where you do things that make you happy. A place where your excitement outweighs your dread. Performing tasks that really cater to your interests and make you feel important. Why do so many of us settle for less?
Beyond the philosophical musings, I’ve spent the last five years immersed in bold branding work for Butler Community College that included the development and maintenance of a unique voice and visual guide that set us apart from any other community college in the country. I’ve grown into the development of radio, TV, web, video, social media as well as enhanced my own skills in PR, event management, public speaking and copy editing.
Now I’m prepared to tackle a position that will challenge me at the next level of my career. I don’t know if I was born great, but I’m ready to achieve greatness.

There are these things. You’re reading them right now. They’re called words. Jon’s job is to take those things and jumble them up in such a way that you might be more entertained and inclined to learn about the college’s various program offerings and take advantage of the superbly affordable academic opportunities afforded outside of the 4-year university system. Tasked with publications both print and digital, Jon flexes his mental muscles on projects like social media, blogging, biannual magazine copy, annual reports, videos, enrollment materials, television and radio commercial and media relations among a host of other things he just can’t recall at the moment. He’s also earned the loving nickname among college regulars as “Picture Guy” since he’s often haunting around campus shooting photos of various events and activities.

El Dorado Times
Was the sole intrepid news reporter for a small-town publication that published hard-hitting and sometimes fluffy local news features Monday through Saturday. Also responsible for putting together the rad designs for weekly special pages focused on local businesses, schools and special announcements. When the editor needed some time away, he ran the whole darn show.
Glenwood Arts Theatres
Managed the day-to-day operations for a chain of arts theatres in the Kansas City area.
Imagine trying to wrangle 30+ college-aged part-time employees into a cohesive and well-oiled entertainment machine. From learning to operate and maintain pre-digital projection systems to taking responsibility for all inventory, maintenance, customer service, promotional and banking duties, Jon was the head of this 8-screen behemoth in Emporia, Kansas. He also watched plenty of movies in his time there.
